View original image[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The Gangwon-do Tourism Foundation is promoting the "Gangwon Wildflower Colony Tourism Resource Development" as a new project this year.
The main strategy of the project is the wildflower certification challenge "Wildflower Game - The Wildflower Has Bloomed," where visitors to Gangwon-do take photos of wildflowers and certify them on their individual SNS accounts to receive prizes. This encourages travelers to voluntarily visit and promote the wildflower colonies in Gangwon-do.
This year, the foundation plans to promote major wildflower sites in Gangwon-do and discover previously unknown wildflower colonies, preparing safe, outdoor experience-focused individual travel content suitable for the With-Corona era.
Additionally, through collaboration with a famous camera brand, they plan to promote Gangwon-do's attractive natural tourist destinations themed around wildflowers.
In particular, they intend to schedule photo shoots centered on the Samcheok, Donghae, and Yeongwol areas, which were recently damaged by wildfires, capturing wildflowers that have stubbornly bloomed despite the fire damage. This aims to promote these areas and contribute to revitalizing tourism in disaster-affected regions by encouraging travel.

Previously, the foundation analyzed that the main cause of increased tourists was spring trekking and wildflower photography, based on big data collected last year showing a 277% increase in visitors to Inje Gombaeryeong Seolpi Village in May compared to the previous month, along with a surge in wildflower-related keyword searches during the same period.
