National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute to Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for National Gaya History and Culture Center on the 18th
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute of the Cultural Heritage Administration's National Cultural Heritage Research Institute will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the National Gaya History and Culture Center at 2 p.m. on the 18th at the site in Gwandong-dong, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.
The National Gaya History and Culture Center is a research institution for the systematic collection, management, and utilization of Gaya historical and cultural resources from Yeongnam and Honam regions. After a feasibility study in 2018, the basic plan was established in 2020, and after about a year and a half of design, the groundbreaking ceremony will be held on the 18th. The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, with a total floor area of 10,095㎡, three floors above ground, and one basement floor. After exhibition construction and operational preparations, it will open in the second half of 2024, equipped with storage space, research and academic spaces, and exhibition and experience spaces.
The storage space will house various excavation records, reports, artifacts, and literary materials related to Gaya, which will be acquired, preserved, and digitized. The research and academic space will be used for research work, academic conferences, citizen lectures, and other internal and external events. The exhibition and experience space will be designed as a cultural space for the public to browse, experience, and view Gaya historical and cultural materials.
