Hyundai Motor and Kia Participate in Electric Vehicle Expo... Showcase Dedicated EVs and Technologies
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Motor Company and Kia will participate in xEV Trend Korea 2022, held at COEX for three days starting from the 17th.
Hyundai Motor organized its exhibition space around the dedicated electric vehicle brand Ioniq. The exhibition area is divided into the Ioniq Zone and the Charging Content Zone to showcase the direction of electric vehicles. In the Ioniq Zone, the Ioniq 5 and the sedan-type electric vehicle concept car Prophecy are displayed, while the SUV concept car Seven can be viewed through videos. The Charging Content Zone features a mobile electric charging cart H Mobile Charger, ultra-fast charging system E-pit, mobile hydrogen fuel generator, and a mobile charging service vehicle.
Kia exhibits the new Niro EV, scheduled for release in the first half of this year. Visitors can also see the dedicated electric vehicles EV6 and EV6 GT-Line. The exhibition hall is themed with a circle representing resource circulation, curves symbolizing various journeys, and straight lines signifying driving pleasure, aiming to intuitively express mobility. The circular space displaying the new Niro EV uses plant-extracted eco-friendly finishing materials and paint free of harmful substances to embody sustainability. A video explaining the resource recycling process is also prepared. On the 18th and 19th, visitors will have the opportunity to test drive the EV6 and EV6 GT-Line.
At the EV Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and judged jointly by automotive experts and consumers, the Kia EV6 received the highest score and ranked first. It will receive the Electric Vehicle of the Year Award, the Minister of Environment Award. Hyundai Motor’s Ioniq 5 was awarded the Consumer’s Choice Electric Vehicle of the Year Award.
