Transformed into a Park Area in Gangnam Yulhyeon-dong
Seoul City Holds the 3rd Urban Planning Committee Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The development-restricted area around Yulhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be transformed into a park. A new park named Uiryeong Park (tentative name) will also be established in the Ui-dong area of Gangbuk-gu.
On the 17th, Seoul City announced that it held the '3rd Urban Planning Committee' and conditionally approved the plan to designate the damaged development-restricted area around Yulhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, as a park.
The Suseo-dong area in Gangnam-gu was removed from the development-restricted zone after being selected for the 'Suseo Station Area Public Housing District Development Project' in 2016. Since then, the Yulhyeon-dong area in Gangnam-gu, where vinyl greenhouses and storage yards had proliferated, was selected as a restoration target for damaged land. After passing the urban planning committee review on this day, it will be designated as an urban planning facility (park), and land compensation and park development will be pursued.
This park is being promoted as part of the restoration project for damaged land within the development-restricted area. The damaged land restoration project refers to a project that, according to the development-restricted area regulations, selects damaged land within a certain range (10-20%) of the area to be released outside the release area when planning the notification management plan for lifting the development restriction, and restores it as parks, green spaces, etc.
A Seoul city official said, "The area that originally had storage yards and vinyl greenhouses will be transformed into an eco-friendly space through park development, which is expected to play a significant role in improving the poor landscape and enhancing the quality of life for nearby residents."
In addition, the city conditionally approved the original plan to designate a new urban planning facility (park) in the Ui-dong area of Gangbuk-gu.
The Uiryeong Park (tentative name) in the Ui-dong area of Gangbuk-gu will connect the Bukhansan National Park Dulle-gil trail and the Uiryeong Forest Culture Village, and link with surrounding scenic spots to provide citizens with various cultural experiences and resting spaces. The park development plan will be finalized and the project promoted, with Uiryeong Park (6,180㎡) scheduled to open in 2024.
Furthermore, the city conditionally approved the urban management plan (land use district) change proposal to abolish the height restriction district around Children's Grand Park. This involves abolishing the height restriction district covering 219,000㎡ around Children's Grand Park in Neung-dong and Guui-dong, Gwangjin-gu.
