The 'HPO (Human Performance Optimization) Center' is the first comprehensive training facility in Korea designed to prevent malfunctions and accidents caused by various human errors during nuclear power plant operations.
Located at the KHNP Human Resources Development Institute with a total floor area of 446㎡, the HPO Center is equipped with 11 state-of-the-art training devices across three categories: conceptual training, specialized training, and comprehensive training equipment, enabling integrated training based on power plant operation scenarios.
The center replicates systems, equipment, and structures used in nuclear power plants in an environment similar to actual sites, allowing training to be conducted according to real processes.
It is designed so that trainees can directly observe their own human actions and receive immediate coaching, which is expected to greatly aid practical training.
The comprehensive power generation and instrumentation training facility, which is an exact replica of part of a power plant, allows practice of various malfunctions and accidents that may occur during nuclear power plant operations.
During over a year of preparation, KHNP's Human Resources Development Institute analyzed major domestic operational experience cases and benchmarked key overseas training facilities in the United States, Germany, and China to create the training center.
