Despite North Korea's consecutive missile launches, China says "Dialogue efforts must continue"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] China maintained its existing stance of "efforts should be made for dialogue" despite North Korea's successive missile test launches.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 16th regarding the launch of a projectile presumed to be a North Korean ballistic missile, "China's position on this issue is consistent and clear."
Spokesperson Zhao emphasized, "China hopes for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula," adding, "All countries should actively strive to promote dialogue and talks, and we do not support any actions that escalate the situation."

Earlier, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea fired a projectile presumed to be a ballistic missile around 9:30 a.m. near Sunan, Pyongyang, but it is presumed to have failed immediately after launch, and South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities are conducting further analysis.
