20s Man Arrested for Assaulting Girlfriend After Police Report Retaliation
Allegation of Retaliatory Crime under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 20s was arrested by the police on charges of retaliatory assault against his girlfriend after she reported him to the police.
On the 16th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on the 15th on the spot for retaliatory crime under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Mr. A is accused of visiting his girlfriend's house around 7 p.m. the previous day and assaulting her by punching her face and knocking her down.
Earlier that day, at around 2:50 p.m., Mr. A was arrested on the spot on charges of 'refusal to leave' after not leaving the victim's house and was under police investigation. It is reported that after being released, Mr. A returned to the victim's house and committed the assault.
The police provided the victim with a 112 smartwatch and temporary accommodation to separate her from Mr. A.

The police stated, "Mr. A has shown symptoms of high fever and vomiting, so the suspect has not yet been interrogated," and added, "We plan to reschedule the investigation soon to accurately determine the details of the incident."
