Homeplus Launches 5 Exclusive Products to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Homeplus announced on the 15th that it will exclusively launch new products co-planned with leading domestic food and liquor brands to celebrate its 25th anniversary. There are a total of five products, including four snacks co-planned with Gilim Yanghaeng's BAF (HBAF) and popcorn collaborated with OB Lager.
The expectations for these products, launched exclusively to commemorate the 25th anniversary, are quite high. This is because the products were created in collaboration with two brands that have gained great popularity among the public. Looking at the sales volume of BAF sold at Homeplus alone, the cumulative sales exceeded 23.5 million units in just six years since 2015. The annual sales growth rate has also recorded an average of 55%. OB Lager is also a representative Korean beer brand loved nationwide. The average annual sales volume at Homeplus reaches a total of 130,000 units.
First, Homeplus will sequentially introduce a total of four products in collaboration with Gilim Yanghaeng's BAF: two types of pretzels, snack balls made in a ball shape, and a hearty nut bar. The two products, ‘Caramel Salted Pretzel’ (110g) and ‘Honey Butter Pretzel’ (100g), will be launched exclusively at Homeplus first. The price is 1,490 KRW each, and the coating technology previously used for almonds has been applied to the pretzels. In particular, the Caramel Salted Pretzel was commercialized reflecting customer demand who wanted to eat only the pretzel part of BAF’s existing product, Caramel Salted Almond & Pretzel.
On the 17th, BAF’s new product ‘Nacho Cheese Flavor BAF Ball’ (130g) will be introduced at 1,490 KRW. The Nacho Cheese Flavor BAF Ball is a ball-shaped snack seasoned with nacho cheese flavoring, offering a saltiness level perfectly suited to Korean tastes, unlike the existing salty cheese balls. The Honey Butter Almond Bar is based on crispy cornflakes and incorporates nuts such as peanuts and almonds, as well as cranberries, combined with honey butter seasoning technology. It is a hearty snack with an attractive balance of sweet and salty flavors. The ‘Honey Butter Almond Bar’ (500g/bag) is available as a 1+1 deal for 12,900 KRW.
Also released on the same day, the ‘OB Lala Bear Honey Butter Popcorn’ (350g) features a savory honey butter flavor combined with honey that is not overly sweet, making it enjoyable for everyone without burden. The large-capacity product uses zipper packaging for easy storage even after opening.
To mark the 25th anniversary, this product was co-planned with OB Lager, exclusively creating a soft and sweet honey butter popcorn in line with OB beer’s slogan ‘Oh, SoftLove.’ The heritage design of OB Lager is reinterpreted with a modern sensibility, evoking nostalgia among the 30s and 40s generation while providing new enjoyment to the millennial generation. The price is 4,990 KRW.
