Bident, Net Profit Surpasses 224.2 Billion KRW... Record High Performance
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Bident announced on the 14th that its consolidated net profit for last year reached 224.23683 billion KRW, marking a 972% increase compared to the previous year. During the same period, sales increased by 65% to 17.7 billion KRW, and operating profit turned positive.
Its investment company, Bithumb, recorded sales of 1.0108 trillion KRW, achieving its highest performance since its establishment. A Bident official explained, "Sales from the existing broadcasting equipment business increased due to being an official partner of the Olympics, the hosting of the Beijing Olympics last year, and entry into new businesses," adding, "We succeeded in improving the financial structure including profitability, and combined with Bithumb’s record-breaking performance, we showed high profitability."
Bident is actively promoting related businesses by adding metaverse and NFT to its new business objectives and recruiting key figures from the IT industry.
Bident will hold a shareholders' meeting on the 29th and appoint Park Jin-yong, who has served as CEO of NK Payments, Best Rich, and Toomics Global, as an outside director. Park Jin-yong, the outside director candidate, is expected to contribute to Bident’s new businesses based on his experience with IP-utilized copyright content. Bident has recruited numerous experts and talents in the 4th industrial revolution fields such as metaverse, NFT, security, and wallets.
In the metaverse business sector, Bident is recruiting Center Director Jung Deok-su, who oversaw metaverse, VFX, and digital human projects at Mofac and Toytron. For the NFT, security, and wallet businesses, Director Nam Min-woo, who led blockchain and wallet security businesses at Penta Security, has been appointed as the head of the NFT center. An expert who has researched security vulnerability detection technology for nearly 20 years at the National Intelligence Service and the National Police Agency has been appointed as the head of the security research institute. Experts who have been responsible for security monitoring and operations at leading companies such as Naver, Coupang, and Baemin have also been confirmed to join, focusing on advancing and commercializing security technologies.
Based on talent recruitment, new business objectives have been added, including ▲security and network monitoring services ▲development, manufacturing, and sales of security solution products ▲blockchain-based encrypted asset trading and brokerage ▲development of copyrighted works such as games, music, artworks, videos, and entertainment content.
A Bident official stated, "Virtual assets, metaverse, and NFTs are exposed to risks such as information leakage and hacking due to their integration with payment functions," adding, "We will build a professional security system with a team composed of experts with the highest business understanding."

He continued, "Based on 400 billion KRW in cash secured through affiliates, we are investing in companies related to metaverse, NFT, copyrights, and IP," and added, "We will expand corporate value by advancing both existing and new businesses on two tracks."
