An Min-seok "Abolishing the Ministry of Gender Equality? The Start of Reckless One-Way Traffic Without Any Measures"
"Ministry of Gender Equality Abolition, Democratic Party Cannot Accept in the Name of the People"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's repeated emphasis on fulfilling his campaign promise to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, Ahn Min-seok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized on the 14th, saying, "The abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family by Yoon Seok-yeol's transition team is the beginning of reckless, unilateral action without any measures."
On this day, Ahn posted on his Facebook, stating, "The Democratic Party cannot accept the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in the name of the people."
He addressed Park Ji-hyun, co-chair of the emergency committee and former activist of the 'Nth Room Tracking Team Bulkkot,' saying, "Please speak more confidently and loudly. We cannot accept President-elect Yoon's abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family!"
Ahn expressed, "I welcome the appointment of Chair Park to the first emergency committee formed after the presidential election defeat," and emphasized, "Some are concerned that the large Democratic Party will only consume the image of a young female activist, but I firmly believe that is not the case."
He continued, "We should pay attention to Chair Park's political entry statement: 'It is exhausting to act with only anger. Seeing the world change through the power of solidarity has become a great driving force. Anger, solidarity, and change?these three are the current driving forces,'" and added, "I will also support Chair Park together with the Democratic Party."
He also expressed concern, saying, "President-elect Yoon reiterated his intention to push forward with the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in an interview with a media outlet yesterday, stating, 'The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has fulfilled its historical mission.' Since the 10th, more than 900 posts have been uploaded on a portal site by people worried about the suspension of support for sanitary pads and childcare assistance, which were provided through the Ministry's programs."
