[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in encouraged the athletes who participated in the Beijing Winter Paralympics on the 13th, saying, "All the athletes are winners."
President Moon stated through a social network service (SNS) message on the day, "All 31 team athletes and coaching staff who stood shoulder to shoulder with the world's top athletes with passion and fighting spirit worked hard."
President Moon said, "Although they did not win any medals, all the athletes who gave their best at every moment with a fighting spirit that surpassed their limits are winners," adding, "I am most pleased that they were able to complete the games healthily and safely."
President Moon praised each athlete, saying, "The great comeback of the wheelchair curling ‘Jang Yoon-jeong Gobaek’ team was impressive, and the ice hockey team relentlessly shot the ‘puck of tenacity.’ Cross-country and biathlon athlete Shin Eui-hyeon participated in as many as six events, showing that he is the ‘Ironman of the snowy field.’" He also mentioned the performances of snowboarders Lee Chung-min, Lee Je-hyeok, Park Soo-hyeok, and the youngest member of the team, alpine skier Choi Sa-ra.
President Moon expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank the Korea Paralympic Committee and the support team who did their best to ensure the athletes could compete safely," and added, "I also send special thanks to the families, medical staff, nurses, and physical therapists who supported the athletes."
