This is the first time since the Department of Fire and Disaster Prevention Administration at Dong-Eui University was established in 2012 that a fire officer cadet has been produced.
Mr. Moon said, “Since I am from the first class, the professors acted as senior mentors for the department,” and added, “The department’s classes and preparing in the school’s study dormitory greatly helped me achieve the final acceptance.”
Having entered the Central Fire Academy in Gongju on the 10th for one year of training, Mr. Moon said, “Watching the wildfires in Gangwon-do made me realize once again the importance of fire suppression,” and “Although I am a cadet, I will gain abundant field experience to become the top expert in prevention and fire suppression.”
Only 30 fire officer cadets are selected each year. A total of 1,323 candidates applied for the 28th Fire Officer Cadet exam, which Mr. Moon passed, showing a high competition rate of 44.1 to 1.
The selection process combines scores of 75% written test, 15% physical fitness, and 10% interview, and candidates are selected in order of highest total scores.
