Hamyungju, Vice Chairman of Hana Financial Group, Acquitted in First Trial on Hiring Corruption Charges (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Ham Young-joo, Vice Chairman of Hana Financial Group, who is on trial for corruption in the recruitment of new employees at Hana Bank, was acquitted in the first trial.
The Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 4 (Judge Park Bomi) acquitted Vice Chairman Ham on the 11th of charges including obstruction of business. Earlier, at the sentencing hearing, the prosecution requested a sentence of 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 5 million won for Vice Chairman Ham.

Additionally, the court sentenced former Hana Bank Deputy President Jang Ki-yong, who was indicted along with Vice Chairman Ham, to 6 months imprisonment with a 2-year probation, and imposed a fine of 7 million won on Hana Bank as a corporation, which was prosecuted under the joint penalty provision for violating the Act on Gender Equality in Employment and Work-Family Balance Support.
