Imsil-gun Selected as 'Best County' in Jeonbuk for Business-Friendly Environment Evaluation

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 11th that it was selected as the best county for two consecutive years in the ‘2021 Making Jeonbuk a Good Place for Business’ evaluation.

This evaluation, hosted by Jeonbuk Province, is a system that assesses 14 cities and counties within the province to discover policies supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region and to establish development plans by resolving difficulties faced by businesses.

The detailed evaluation is divided into Group A, with populations over 80,000, and Group B, with populations under 80,000, and was conducted based on 16 evaluation indicators set by Jeonbuk Province.

Imsil-gun scored consistently high across all 16 evaluation items and ranked first in Group B, which consists of seven counties.

In particular, it received high marks for the connectivity of implementation plans, business trends, discovery and execution of excellent policies, identification of regulatory innovation tasks and strengthening on-site communication, and the level of interest from the head of the institution.

As an excellent institution, the county received a commendation from the Governor of Jeonbuk Province and incentives.

Additionally, through quarterly meetings in local agro-industrial complexes, the county listened to business difficulties and made multifaceted efforts to resolve them, while actively prioritizing the purchase of SME products to increase corporate sales.

Support measures such as interest subsidy support to promote management stability through expanded emergency funds for SMEs, environmental improvement projects, logistics cost support projects, and environmental maintenance of agro-industrial complexes have also been prepared and are underway.

The ongoing Osu 2nd Agro-Industrial Complex construction project, scheduled for completion this year, is attracting significant attention from businesses.

This project is recognized as an excellent case as it is the first nationwide to achieve 100% compensation agreement without land expropriation before starting construction.

In 2021, the county recorded the second highest total fertility rate nationwide and first in Jeonbuk, rapidly emerging as a favorable area for raising children, drawing considerable attention.

It is analyzed that this effect was achieved through the combined impact of policies in various fields, including the creation of a business-friendly environment, job and education policies, diverse childbirth encouragement supports, return-to-farming and rural migration support, multicultural support, and special policies for military units, actively promoted during the 6th and 7th local government administrations.

A county official stated, “Taking this award as an opportunity, we will strengthen communication with businesses and lead the creation of a business-friendly environment by actively resolving business difficulties through on-site administration. We also ask for much interest in the sale of the Osu 2nd Agro-Industrial Complex, scheduled for completion this year.”
