A man carrying several heavy piggy banks came to the Namyang-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam.
It was to donate charity funds that his son, Kim Seungyu, had saved little by little from his daily allowance to help neighbors in need.
The father placed the piggy banks filled with his son's "hard-earned money" along with a handwritten letter from his son.
In the carefully written letter, Seungyu expressed his wish that the money be used for people who are sick or struggling.
He also included his hope for them to live long and healthy lives and his promise to collect more next time.
The child, who entered Namyang Elementary School this year, had saved a total of 59,860 won over time.
The boy, who had followed his father, active in the Jungang Rotary Club, since he was very young, was always curious about what kind of work his father did.
Seeing his father volunteering and donating for the local community, he said, "I want to do it too!" while clenching his small hands.
Although the 8-year-old child has not yet fully understood the concept of money, he quickly realized that collecting coins could help someone.
Embracing the piggy banks he had "filled with effort" without hesitation and asking his father to "please donate it," the father pondered where to deliver the donation.
Recalling that two years ago, about 20 elderly living alone in Namyang-dong each received goods worth about 200,000 won per household, he decided to visit the Namyang-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
The donation entrusted by Seungyu will be used as a fund for the Hope 4000 Neighbor Love Support Project, which supports families in difficult situations in the welfare blind spots within the region.
Jeon Yeongmyo, head of Namyang-dong, said, "I was touched by the warm heart of a child who, despite his young age, saved his allowance to help neighbors in need."
