SK Networks Appoints Choi Seong-hwan, Eldest Son of Choi Chul-won, as Inside Director
Appointed at the Shareholders' Meeting on the 29th
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] SK Networks is set to appoint Choi Seonghwan, the eldest son of former Chairman Choi Shinwon, as an inside director.
On the 11th, SK Networks announced that it will propose an agenda to appoint Choi Seonghwan as a new inside director at the shareholders' meeting scheduled for the 29th.
Choi Seonghwan is the eldest son of Choi Shinwon, former chairman and second son of SK Group founder Choi Jong-gun, born in 1981. He is also the nephew of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won.
Choi completed his MBA at London Business School. He began his career in management in 2009 as deputy general manager of the SKC Strategic Planning Office. He then served as executive director of SK Inc.'s BM Innovation Office and head of SK Inc.'s Global Business Development Office. In 2019, he joined SK Networks, where he served as head of the Planning Office and is currently responsible for overall business operations.
Leveraging his global network, Choi has led over ten early-stage investments in promising future sectors. He is developing the blockchain business as a new growth engine for the company. A company official stated, "This year, as we actively transition into a business-type investment company, we decided to appoint Choi Seonghwan as an inside director," adding, "We will strengthen execution capabilities to enhance corporate value and ensure sustainable growth."

In addition, SK Networks appointed Lee Hojung, head of the New Growth Promotion Headquarters, as a non-executive director of SK Rent-a-Car. SK Rent-a-Car is a key subsidiary playing an important role in the evolution of SK Networks' mobility business. A company representative explained, "He plans to participate in strategic decision-making, including concretizing ESG (environment, social, governance) and technology-centered growth directions," and added, "This will achieve harmonious role distribution and synergy within the management team."
