Gwangju Dong-gu, Seongyo Neoritjae Children's Forest Renovation Completed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is expanding the scale of the ‘Seongyo Neoritjae Early Childhood Forest’ and reorganizing the space to present it in a new form.
According to Dong-gu on the 10th, the Neoritjae Early Childhood Forest, established in 2015, has been used by more than 11,000 residents annually as an urban natural learning space for children and a resting area for residents. In particular, the early childhood forest experience program led by forest guides has enjoyed high popularity every year.
Dong-gu plans to reorganize the existing early childhood forest and Nuri-gil trail, and newly create a maze park and meditation rest area, establishing a complex green space for play areas for infants and toddlers and family leisure activities. The name will also be changed to ‘Deguldegeul Neoritjae Early Childhood Forest,’ meaning a space where children can play safely and freely.
The newly transformed early childhood forest will expand its scale (15,000㎡) by utilizing idle national and public land and will be composed of three main areas: ▲ convenience and resting spaces ▲ natural learning spaces ▲ natural play spaces.
Additional facilities include a forest path for walking and resting, a maze park that stimulates children’s curiosity by finding hidden paths and hiding, and a sensory playground made of eco-friendly materials.
The early childhood forest is an open space accessible to everyone and is scheduled to complete construction by July. During the maintenance period, programs will be operated on-site, and from July, various field programs will be offered.
