Ukraine Appeals to Over 50 Global Companies Including Samsung, LG, and Hyundai Motor to Join Sanctions Against Russia
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to more than 50 global companies, including domestic firms such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motor, to join sanctions against Russia.
On the 9th (local time), the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed the names and logos of over 50 global companies on its official Facebook page, stating that they are still conducting business in the Russian market. They appealed, "All taxes paid in rubles to Russia become the death and tears of Ukrainian children." The Ministry further urged, "Companies must cease operations in Russia," adding, "(Otherwise) responsible consumers and governments should launch boycotts against these companies' products."
The list released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs included domestic companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motor, as well as American pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer, global automaker Stellantis, Chinese Huawei, and German Bosch.

Among these, Nestl?, Sony, and Mondelez announced the suspension of their operations in Russia on the same day. Japanese company Sony decided to halt sales of its PlayStation console and game software in Russia, while the world's largest food company Nestl? and snack manufacturer Mondelez, known for Oreo, also announced the suspension of investments in Russia. Citigroup, which had already been pursuing the sale of its Russian retail banking business, stated that it would operate consumer finance services in a limited capacity.
