Gwangju Seo-gu Launches 'Electric Two-Wheel Vehicle Rental Service' to Reduce Air Pollution
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 10th that it has established a system for a "carbon-free, environmentally enhanced electric two-wheeler rental service" and will officially launch the rental service targeting 10 self-employed businesses.
Last month, Seo-gu conducted a demand survey for the electric two-wheeler rental project targeting self-employed business owners operating their own delivery services within the district.
Based on the small business confirmation certificate and value-added tax taxable standard certificate, priority was given to those with lower sales, selecting a total of 10 rental recipients.
The recipients will be provided with two-wheelers, comprehensive two-wheeler insurance, delivery boxes, mobile phone holders, and battery chargers.
In addition, regular inspections through affiliated repair shops will be mandatory to check monthly mileage and periodically manage consumables, ensuring safety.
Through this project, Seo-gu predicts that by operating eco-friendly electric two-wheelers via the nation’s first electric two-wheeler rental business, it will improve air quality and resolve noise issues, providing residents with a pleasant urban environment.
Not only will the support for electric two-wheeler rental fees alleviate the economic burden on small business owners, but it is also expected to contribute to the early achievement of carbon neutrality in the transportation sector and the realization of Seo-gu as a carbon-neutral city by 2045.
A Seo-gu official stated, “The transition to zero-emission electric two-wheelers is essential to create a comfortable living environment for residents,” adding, “Furthermore, we will actively consider establishing battery stations for the convenience of electric two-wheeler users and lead the popularization of electric two-wheelers.”
