20-Year-Old 'Drunk Hit-and-Run Driver' Charged in Student's Death

The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 8th that they have booked university student A (in his 20s) on charges of hit-and-run causing death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
A is accused of hitting and killing motorcycle rider B (a teenager) while driving intoxicated at around 2:10 a.m. on the 26th of last month at an intersection in Seo-gu.
At the time of the accident, A's blood alcohol concentration was found to be at a level warranting license cancellation.
He reportedly fled about 1 km to his home immediately after the accident out of fear of punishment.
However, a taxi driver who witnessed this reported it to the police, leading to his capture.
