Ministry of Unification Urges "Adherence to Denuclearization Agreement Spirit" Amid Signs of North Korea's Nuclear Facility Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 8th, the Ministry of Unification emphasized that North Korea must adhere to the spirit of denuclearization agreements in relation to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) analysis, which recently detected signs of operation at North Korea's Yongbyon reactor and other nuclear facilities.
A Ministry of Unification official said to reporters on the same day in response to related questions, "We once again urge North Korea to comply with the spirit of the agreements made with the international community and between South and North Korea."
The official pointed out, "The operation of North Korea's nuclear facilities violates United Nations Security Council resolutions and goes against the spirit and intent of the inter-Korean agreements to jointly pursue the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."
