Gyeonggawon Promotes Regional University Startup Support Projects
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is promoting a regional specialized industry-linked university startup support project in collaboration with university startup incubation centers in the province to revitalize the local economy and create jobs.
The regional specialized industry-linked university startup support project was planned with the purpose of fostering and developing regional specialized industries through university startup incubation centers and industry-academia cooperation.
This year's recruitment targets are 34 university startup incubation centers in the province designated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, divided by region as follows: 12 universities in the central region including Seongnam, Suwon, Anyang, and Hwaseong; 11 universities in the southern region including Anseong, Yeoju, Osan, and Yongin; 5 universities in the western region including Bucheon, Siheung, and Ansan; and 6 universities in the northern region including Goyang, Namyangju, Uijeongbu, and Pocheon.
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will select a total of 8 universities, 1 to 3 universities per region, among these incubation centers and support the selected incubation centers and resident companies.
The selected incubation centers will receive up to 9.5 million KRW to promote capability enhancement programs for resident companies such as ▲ networking for successful startups ▲ demo days ▲ investment attraction. Additionally, resident companies will receive up to 44 million KRW in commercialization funds necessary for ▲ prototype development ▲ testing and analysis ▲ intellectual property application and registration ▲ marketing activities.
