Protecting the Earth Theme
Topics Include Energy, Bio, and Climate Change
Total Prize Money of 200 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Hanwha Group announced on the 8th that it will hold the 'Hanwha Science Challenge 2022' to nurture young scientific talents.
The Hanwha Science Challenge is a science idea competition held by Hanwha Group for high school students nationwide to foster creative future scientific talents. It was first held in 2011 under the motto of Chairman Seung-yeon Kim to "cultivate young Korean Nobel Prize winners in science." It has grown into the nation's top-level science competition for high school students, with total awards worth 200 million KRW, including 40 million KRW for the grand prize team.
This year's theme is "Saving the Earth," covering topics that humanity must consider together for sustainable growth, such as energy (solar power, etc.), bio (diseases, food), climate change, and water. Participants compete by developing creative ideas aligned with the theme, based on logic and practicality.
Teams consist of two high school students and one supervising teacher. There is no limit to the number of teams per school, and students from different schools can form joint teams.
