Daejeon Special Judicial Police Refer 3 Businesses Violating Youth Protection Act to Prosecutors
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon Special Judicial Police announced on the 8th that they conducted a crackdown on illegal activities related to youth at 31 establishments including comic book cafes in the jurisdiction over two months since January, and identified three establishments violating the Youth Protection Act and the Food Sanitation Act, which were referred to the prosecution.
Two comic cafes located in Dong-gu and Daedeok-gu were caught violating the Youth Protection Act by displaying and exhibiting comic books designated and announced as harmful media for youth by the Minister of Gender Equality and Family without the ‘Not for subscribers under 19’ label on the bookshelves.
Another comic cafe located in Jung-gu was cracked down on for violating the Food Sanitation Act by cooking and serving ramen to customers within the establishment without filing a business report for a rest food service under the jurisdictional district office, as required by the Food Sanitation Act.
The city’s special judicial police emphasized that under current law, two establishments violating the Youth Protection Act may face imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW, and one establishment violating the Food Sanitation Act may face imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW.
