Pulmuone's 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon' Sells 10 Million Units in 6 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Pulmuone Foods announced on the 8th that its 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon' surpassed cumulative sales of 10 million units about six months after its launch.
In September last year, Pulmuone introduced two special dry noodle jjajangmyeon (jjajang ramen) products: 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon Scallion Oil' and 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon Chili Oil.'
Roasting Jjajangmyeon involves stir-frying ingredients such as onions, green onions, and pork once, separately roasting the chunjang (black bean paste), then combining and stir-frying them again. Through a total of three triple roasting processes, the characteristic bitterness of chunjang is reduced while maximizing the original taste and flavor of the ingredients. Additionally, the addition of flavored oil enhances the rich umami of the jjajangmyeon.
According to Pulmuone, as of the end of February, about six months after its launch, Roasting Jjajangmyeon surpassed cumulative sales of 10 million units, increasing Pulmuone's market share within the jjajang ramen category.
To meet diverse consumer needs, in February this year, Pulmuone also launched a premium version of Roasting Jjajangmyeon called 'Roasting Jjajangmyeon Truffle Oil.'
