Namwon City and Jeonbuk National University Hold Opening Ceremony for Regional Industry Department... "Training Core Talent"

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 7th that it held a new student orientation for the re-education type regional industry department opened in cooperation with Jeonbuk National University to foster strategic industries.

The opening ceremony was held for new students of the Namwon City Regional Industry Department (Cosmetics & Beauty Major, Mokchil Craft Major), a re-education contract department of Jeonbuk National University for the 2022 academic year.

Starting with congratulatory remarks from Department Head Hwang In-seop, the program proceeded in the order of ▲introduction of department professors ▲meeting between professors and new students ▲course registration guidance ▲academic schedule guidance ▲explanation of scholarship system.

Jeonbuk National University plans to carefully select curricula suited to industrial sites and provide practical, work-oriented education based on practicality, offering opportunities to obtain certifications as well as theoretical and academic management. They also aim to enhance education so that students can connect product development and various technologies to personal entrepreneurship.

The academic program is a total of four years, conducted as weekday evening classes, and this year’s first-year classes are held on the 3rd floor of the Lifelong Learning Center annex.

Additionally, a new campus with three above-ground floors is being constructed with a project budget of 2.5 billion KRW, scheduled to be completed by April, and classes will be held at the new campus starting in May.

Lee Young-geun, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, encouraged in his congratulatory speech, “Although it is a challenging curriculum that requires concurrent job training at the workplace, I have no doubt that through systematic learning over four years, you will grow as key players leading our city’s core strategic industries, the cosmetics industry and traditional industries.”

Meanwhile, the Namwon City Regional Industry Department received approval from the Ministry of Education in 2021 to establish a re-education contract department, selecting 20 students each for the cosmetics beauty industry and the mokchil craft industry, and is operating accordingly. It plans to develop into an educational hub in the Jirisan area based on a visiting university education service.
