3 Schools Switch to Remote Classes Due to Haze, 1 School Discretionary Holiday
On the 4th, a fire broke out in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and the area around the substation was covered in smoke as fire trucks were extinguishing the wildfire.

On the 7th, the Ministry of Education announced that after inspecting the school damage caused by the wildfire on the 4th, Bu-gu Middle School, Jukbyeon Middle School, and Jukbyeon High School conducted online classes due to haze, and Bu-gu Elementary School took a discretionary holiday.
At the school that took the discretionary holiday, a care classroom was operated for 10 students requiring emergency care. Apart from this, most schools conducted normal attendance without academic schedule adjustments.
There were no casualties among students or staff due to this fire. Some grass was lost at Jukbyeon Elementary Hwaseong Branch (closed school) and Changho Elementary School, and part of the roof of staff housing in Uljin, where 24 households reside, was destroyed.
The evacuees from Gyeongbuk Noeum Elementary School, Gangwon Buksam Elementary School, Mukho High School, and Bukpyeong Girls' High School, which were used as shelters, all returned home the previous day.
The Ministry of Education plans to provide learning supplies to students from families affected by the fire and offer psychological and emotional counseling if necessary.
For the damaged schools, if needed, restoration costs will be supported through emergency disaster safety management special grants and budgets from the city and provincial offices of education's special accounts.
On the 4th, the Ministry of Education formed a situation task force to inspect school damage and establish a support system. The Deputy Minister of Education serves as the head of the task force, checking the necessity of casualties, school facility damage, and academic operation adjustments, and consulting with city and provincial education offices.
The Director of the Education Safety Information Bureau will visit the damage site (Uljin area, Gyeongbuk) to check the status of school damage, attendance, and identify support needs for fire damage.
