UN Security Council to Convene on 7th Regarding North Korean Ballistic Missile Launch
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The United Nations Security Council has decided to convene a closed meeting again within a week regarding North Korea's consecutive ballistic missile launches.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 7th, "Following North Korea's ballistic missile launch on the 5th, some Security Council member states requested a closed meeting," adding, "It is understood that the meeting will be held on the morning of the 7th, New York time."
The official explained, "Our government is maintaining close communication with the United States and other key Security Council member states."
This meeting was convened in response to North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile on the 5th. The day before, North Korea claimed it was a test of satellite data transmission and reception systems for reconnaissance satellite development.
The UN Security Council also held a closed meeting on the 28th of last month (local time) regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch.
Immediately after the previous closed Security Council meeting, 11 countries including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan held a brief press conference and separately issued a joint statement condemning North Korea's missile launch.

North Korea also claimed that it conducted important tests such as reconnaissance satellite camera tests during the launch on the 27th. While South Korea and the United States stated that North Korea fired a medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM), North Korea repeatedly maintained that it was a "reconnaissance satellite test."
