Lee: "Empathy for All Women's Anxiety, Expansion of National Welfare... Yoon's Divisive Remarks Are Problematic"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 6th, "I truly empathize deeply with the concerns and anxieties of women across all generations. I will create a fair workplace without discrimination."
On the same day, during the 7th broadcast speech aired on SBS at night, Lee announced welfare policy, stating, "We will significantly expand the scale and quality of welfare that the people can actually feel."
He criticized, "Efforts to solve pain being framed as a 'war between women and men' is truly bad politics that incites hatred," and sharply pointed out, "Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's remarks dividing women and men are really problematic."
He also emphasized, "Through a state responsibility system for child-rearing, I will take responsibility so that having and raising children does not feel like it weakens one's life."
He continued, "For dual-income parents, childcare is truly a war. When working late, they worry about having nowhere to leave their children, and as a result, childcare leads to women's career breaks," pointing out, "This is the harsh reality ordinary citizens face."
Lee said, "If the country prospers, the lives of the people should improve accordingly," and added, "We will significantly expand the scale and quality of welfare so that the people can feel it."
He stated, "The most urgent issue is care," and stressed, "Childcare, elementary after-school care, care for the disabled, elderly nursing, and nursing care are five major care areas that have been unilateral burdens on individuals. This has caused family conflicts and household crises, but now the state will firmly establish responsibility for care."
He promised to provide childcare services without blind spots, establish shared childcare centers, implement local care programs, and greatly expand care personnel, saying, "We will introduce an automatic registration system for parental leave so that people can take parental leave without hesitation, and extend after-school care at elementary schools until 7 p.m."
He also emphasized significantly expanding support for the disabled and poor elderly, realizing gender equality policies and digital sex crime response measures. In particular, regarding elderly care, he pledged ▲ raising the basic pension by 400,000 KRW per month, abolishing the couple reduction rule ▲ expanding elderly jobs to 1.4 million ▲ providing middle-aged allowances until pension eligibility ▲ guaranteeing four implants for ages 60 to 65 ▲ and addressing the burden of nursing care by patient families.
