View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK Group's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management has been officially introduced as a university liberal arts course.
SK announced on the 6th that it has launched a course introducing Social Value (SV) and ESG from the first semester of this year through collaboration between its internal education platform 'Sunny' (mySUNI), Yonsei University, and Kangwon National University.
The class introduces ESG management cases applied by SK in actual business settings as well as cases from overseas companies. The instructors consist of SK executives and practitioners.
At Yonsei University, the course is offered under the title "Corporate Social Value and Social Innovation." It covers the background of why companies pursue social value and how companies integrate social value into actual business. Despite being a newly established course this year, it is reported to be very popular, with about 200 students applying.
Kangwon National University offers the course titled "Understanding Sustainable Development," designated as a required liberal arts subject for freshmen. SK plans to introduce ESG management as well as cases related to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in the Kangwon National University lectures.
Previously, overseas universities adopted SK's 'DBL' (Double Bottom Line) management, which simultaneously pursues Economic Value (EV) and Social Value (SV), as a research case, drawing attention to SK's core management philosophy. Stanford Graduate School of Business selected SK's DBL management as a case study in 2019, and the following year, the Harvard Business Review (HBR), published by Harvard Business School, featured SK's process and achievements in fostering the social enterprise ecosystem through the Social Performance Incentive (SPC) as a research case.
