View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The National Election Commission announced that as of 1 p.m. on the second day of early voting for the 20th presidential election on the 5th, the turnout rate was recorded at 26.89%.
This surpasses the final turnout rate of 26.69% in the 2020 general election, which had the highest turnout since early voting was first applied to nationwide elections in 2014. If the current trend continues until the closing time at 6 p.m., the final turnout rate is expected to exceed 30% significantly.
Compared to the same time frame, this is 8.72 percentage points higher than the 18.17% turnout during the 19th presidential election in 2017, and 7.81 percentage points higher than the 19.08% turnout during the 2020 general election.
Since early voting began at 6 a.m. the previous day, out of a total of 44,197,692 registered voters, 11,885,871 have cast their votes so far.
As of 1 p.m. today, the region with the highest early voting rate is Jeollanam-do (40.24%), and the lowest is Gyeonggi (24.01%).

Early voting can be done at 3,552 early voting stations nationwide with just an ID card, without any separate registration. Early voting stations have also been set up at Seoul Station, Yongsan Station, and Incheon International Airport.
