Tesla Germany Factory Receives Conditional Approval
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Tesla's European production base Gigafactory, located near Berlin, Germany, has received conditional approval, CNBC reported on the 4th (local time).
According to the report, the Brandenburg State Environmental Authority in Germany granted conditional approval to the Gigafactory on the same day under the Environmental Impact Protection Act. Originally, Tesla planned to start vehicle production at the Gigafactory from early summer 2021, but the plan was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain deterioration, and conflicts with environmental activists.

The Gigafactory is capable of producing 500,000 vehicles annually. However, CNBC added that this conditional approval does not mean Tesla will start production immediately. After a public objection period, Tesla must meet all prerequisites such as air pollution control and water management.
