Gochang-gun Launches Aggressive Sports Marketing with Modernized Sports Facilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun, aspiring to become the "Sports Capital of Korea," is modernizing various community sports facilities and actively promoting sports marketing.

According to Gochang-gun on the 4th, 1.6 billion KRW will be invested this year in the "Community Sports Facility Revitalization Project" (construction of a foot volleyball exclusive court, replacement of artificial turf and facility repairs at Gochang and Seongnae gateball courts, and replacement of tennis court lighting).

In particular, the county is preparing a park golf course with a total of 90 holes. In the first half of the year, a "Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment Service for Park Golf Course Construction by Region and Zone" will be conducted.

Currently, park golf courses are planned at Gochang Sports Town, the southwestern area of Gochang-gun (Gong-eum-myeon Seondong-ri), disaster risk zones, Nodongcheon, and Gochangcheon.

Once the "Gochang General Industrial Complex Multipurpose Cultural and Sports Center" project is completed in the second half of this year, it is expected to have a significant effect on improving leisure spaces for nearby residents and living conditions for employees residing in the industrial complex.

The "Gochang Sports Town Construction Project" is expected to revitalize the local economy by comprehensively creating facilities such as one soccer field, a 9-hole park golf course, a grass plaza, and parking lots near the public stadium, with an investment of about 16 billion KRW, promoting citizens' sports activities and attracting training camps.

In addition, the county is currently carrying out major projects worth about 10.6 billion KRW, including the "Community Sports Facility (Badminton, Table Tennis) Exclusive Court Construction Project," "Public Stadium Parking Lot Construction Project," and "Public Sports Facility Function Enhancement Project."

Based on the enhanced excellent sports facilities, the county is actively promoting sports marketing. They hosted 20 teams with 250 members, including the "Hwimun High School Baseball Team," for training camps at Gochang Sports Town. The teams stayed for extended periods in Gochang, utilizing local accommodations and restaurants.

Various teams, including the Korea Football Association, are planning training camps this month. Additionally, 14 nationwide sports competitions will be held at the county gymnasium, such as the Taekwondo National Team Selection, the Nop-eul Gochang Cup National Federation Badminton Championships by category, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism National Student Table Tennis Tournament.
