[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] On the 4th, Lee Nak-yeon, the General Election Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "If POSCO remembers that it was born with the fateful task of promoting mutual growth between Yeongnam and Honam, I urge them to establish additional investment plans in Gwangyang, Jeonnam, and announce them as soon as possible."
On the same day, at the Okgok 5-day Market in Gwangyang, during a support rally for presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung attended by about 500 people, Lee Nak-yeon addressed POSCO's recent decision to place its holding company in Pohang, saying, "POSCO has Gwangyang and Pohang as its two pillars, and power should not be concentrated on only one pillar," adding, "The two pillars must stand upright by enhancing management independence and achieving mutual growth with the regions."
He continued, "I officially demand that POSCO implement the investment plans already decided for Gwangyang as soon as possible," and added, "Furthermore, to ensure additional investments are made quickly, I will work together with National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong (Democratic Party, Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye District) as if I were his aide."
The chairman also said, "For graduating from COVID-19, protecting the common people, balanced regional development, maintaining peace and strengthening security, and advancing democracy, the Democratic Party and Lee Jae-myung are the answer," urging, "Early voting has started, so please quickly call those around you and appeal for support for candidate Lee Jae-myung."
National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong appealed, "To ensure the election of candidate Lee Jae-myung, all Democratic Party members, including Chairman Lee Nak-yeon, are working with one heart and one mind," and urged, "Let the citizens of Gwangyang and the people of Honam achieve a 90% voter turnout and take the lead in Lee Jae-myung's victory."
