View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] SK Square has recruited Kim Jeong-il, former Director of the New Trade Order Strategy Office (equivalent to Vice Minister) at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
According to the business community on the 3rd, Kim has been working as the Head of Global Business Policy (at the Vice President level) at SK Square since last month.
SK Square is a newly established investment corporation created last year through the spin-off of SK Telecom. It is responsible for managing equity stakes in semiconductor and ICT-related investee companies and making new investments.

Kim, who passed the 38th Administrative Examination, has served as Director of the Americas Trade Division, Director of the Energy Resources Policy Division, and Head of the New Renewable Energy Policy Group at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Going forward, he is expected to oversee SK Square’s local operations and engage with the U.S. government to secure support. Last year, when the U.S. government requested semiconductor information disclosure, Kim also met with key figures in the U.S. administration and Congress to resolve the issue.
