This is the result of an additional call for applications to replace schools that withdrew among those previously selected.
Originally, 11 schools were planned to be selected for reconstruction under the Green Smart Future School project, but including 2 schools that withdrew additionally last year, a total of 13 schools were selected. For remodeling, 7 schools were selected in total, including 2 that applied and schools that wished to participate if not selected for reconstruction.
The schools selected for reconstruction are Godebu High School, Kwangwoon Artificial Intelligence High School, Gusan Elementary School, Daekwang Middle School, Daedong Tax High School, Dongil Middle School, Baemoon High School, Sungmoon Middle School, Ahyeon Industrial Information School, Osan Middle School, Jeongui Girls' High School, Jungang Girls' Middle School, and Handae Middle School. The schools selected this time will be finally chosen as Seoul-type Green Smart Future Schools for reconstruction and remodeling after review by the Ministry of Education's 'Future School Promotion Council.' Construction is targeted to begin in 2025.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education conducted a quantitative evaluation (total 50 points) on five indicators for the applying schools: building age, safety rating, seismic performance, asbestos presence, and recent facility maintenance history. A qualitative evaluation (total 50 points) was also conducted focusing on the school's willingness to proceed based on parental consent rate, school and regional characteristics, student relocation, and feasibility of construction. Schools that caused social issues or failed to comply with audit results within the past three years were penalized up to 5 points. Priority for reconstruction and remodeling was assigned based on the total evaluation score, and schools were selected accordingly.
Schools not selected this time were given a preliminary ranking. If any schools withdraw from the project during the parental opinion collection process starting this month for the 2022 reconstruction target schools, additional selections will be made.
