Ground X Appoints Yang Ju-il, Kakao Vice President, as New CEO
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] GroundX, Kakao's blockchain technology affiliate, announced on the 2nd that it has appointed Yang Juil, the current Vice President of Kakao, as its CEO. Yang will be officially appointed as CEO after a shareholders' meeting at the end of next month.
Yang previously worked at Hangame and Naver, and served as CEO of NHN Ticketlink, NHN Bugs, and NHN Travel Doctor. He joined Kakao in 2021 and led the wallet business division, overseeing certification and electronic documents, emoticons and Talk drawer subscription platforms, digital cards, and NFT businesses.
CEO Han Jaeseon will step down at the end of this month as his term expires. Since his appointment as GroundX CEO in March 2018, Han achieved successful blockchain service use cases such as launching the public blockchain Klaytn mainnet, the digital asset wallet Klip, and the digital art NFT distribution service Klip Drops.

Yang stated, "As the blockchain industry has moved beyond its initial stage and entered an explosive growth phase, I will strive to establish Klip and Klip Drops as the best wallet service and NFT market service, respectively," adding, "I will lead their growth as representative domestic services and also drive a global leap together with Klaytn."
