Dangjin Hyundai Steel Fatal Accident... Ministry of Employment and Labor "Launches Investigation under Serious Accidents Punishment Act"
The Ministry of Employment and Labor has issued a work stoppage order and launched an investigation into potential violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act following a fatal accident involving an employee at the Hyundai Steel Dangjin Steelworks site.
On the 2nd, the Ministry announced that it immediately issued a work stoppage order after the fatal accident at Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Cold Rolling Plant 1 and is currently investigating the cause of the accident as well as possible violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
According to the Ministry and industry sources, at around 5:20 a.m. that day, Mr. A (58), a regular employee of Hyundai Steel, fell into a 450-degree liquid zinc plating tank at the Dangjin Steelworks Cold Rolling Plant 1 in Dangjin-si, Chungnam Province, and died.
The 119 emergency medical team responded to the report and managed the scene.
