View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] KT announced on the 1st that it showcased 'Dr. WAIS,' an artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring solution that enhances the stability of 5th generation (5G) networks, for the first time at MWC 2022 held in Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. WAIS is a wireless network operation management solution based on AI. It is divided into 'Performance Management (PM),' which monitors and analyzes abnormalities in the wireless quality of commercial 5G base stations, and 'Fault Management (FM),' which monitors and analyzes alarms occurring in 5G equipment between base stations and wireless stations.
Unlike the existing method of managing multiple base stations with a single quality standard, Dr. WAIS PM features customized quality control for each base station. A complex network AI based on deep learning and machine learning learns and analyzes quality data from base stations deployed in various environments, quickly detects signs of quality abnormalities, and operates by identifying the causes. Dr. WAIS FM collects alarms from all wired and wireless equipment, including 5G equipment, IP equipment, and optical transmission equipment from base stations to wireless stations, in real time and performs integrated analysis using AI algorithms and big data, enabling faster identification of fault causes compared to the conventional monitoring method that separates wired and wireless systems.
At the MWC 2022 booth, KT exhibited the process of automatically analyzing quality abnormalities and faults in 5G base stations and equipment using Dr. WAIS and recommending quick corrective actions.
