Taekwang Group Ilju Academic and Cultural Foundation to Select 30th Domestic Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients
Selection of 60 people by March 18
"Choose between full tuition for 5 semesters or living expenses"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Taekwang Group Ilju Academic and Cultural Foundation announced on the 28th that it will conduct the '2022 Academic Year 30th Domestic Bachelor's Scholarship Selection' for second-year first-semester students enrolled in four-year universities in Korea until the 18th of next month.
The domestic bachelor's scholarship selection project began in 1991, following the philosophy of the foundation's late founder Chairman Lee Im-yong, who promised the company's social responsibility with the belief that "trees must grow together with the forest." Up to last year, a total of 1,029 scholars have been supported. This year, 60 students will be selected.
Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.5 scale) can apply for the scholarship, and students from all majors, including arts and physical education, will be evenly selected. Starting this year, volunteer activities are emphasized with a more detailed evaluation, and additional points will be given to residents of child and youth group homes and recipients of basic livelihood security benefits. Selected scholars can choose either full tuition or living expenses for up to five semesters. Scholars are required to participate in mentoring youth residing in 'child and youth group homes' (group homes). The mentoring includes academic and arts guidance, career counseling, and more.
Now in its 10th year, Ilju Foundation's group home mentoring project is a social contribution activity that connects scholars to children in group homes who are in welfare blind spots, providing academic guidance, career counseling, and other support.
Applicants can apply online through the Ilju Foundation website. The selection process consists of document screening and interviews, comprehensively evaluating motivation for scholarship need, personality, capability, and vision.
Heo Seung-jo, Chairman of the Ilju Foundation, said, "We will select outstanding talents who can personally practice the virtuous cycle of sharing and provide multifaceted support for scholars so that they can play a central role in Korean society."
