Gyeonggi-do Announces Preliminary Social Enterprise Contest... Until the 10th of Next Month
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is launching a public contest for 'preliminary social enterprises.'
On the 27th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will designate Gyeonggi-type preliminary social enterprises in the first half of this year and conduct an open recruitment for corporations and organizations within the province wishing to participate until the 10th of next month.
The Gyeonggi-type preliminary social enterprises project is aimed at fostering corporations and organizations within the province that perform the roles of social enterprises such as creating jobs for vulnerable groups and contributing to the local community but do not yet meet some certification requirements like organizational standards.
Designated corporations or organizations will receive benefits for the next three years, including ▲ eligibility to apply for support for job creation, professional personnel, and business development expenses ▲ management consulting ▲ various promotional and sales channel support.
They will also carry out public interest activities that provide jobs or social services to vulnerable groups such as low-income individuals, the elderly, persons with disabilities, youth, and North Korean defectors at a certain minimum ratio.
Applicants must be corporations or organizations with offices in the province and choose one of five types: ▲ social service provision type ▲ job provision type ▲ community contribution type ▲ mixed type ▲ others (creative/innovative), then prepare and submit the corresponding business plan.
Applications can be submitted through the Social Enterprise Integrated Information System until the 10th of next month. For more details, please check the notices and announcements on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website.
The province will review documents, conduct on-site and face-to-face evaluations, and finally select participating organizations and corporations, announcing the results at the end of April.
Lee Hyun-ho, head of the Social Economy Division of the province, said, "In line with the government's social economy revitalization plan, we are promoting the discovery and fostering of various preliminary social entrepreneurs. We will do our best to ensure that various corporations and organizations within the province can receive support benefits through this project."
Meanwhile, the number of certified social enterprises and preliminary social enterprises in the province stands at 561 and 406 respectively, totaling 967.
