View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong stated on the 25th regarding the Ukraine situation, "As of 6 p.m. local time on the 24th, 64 of our nationals remain in the area."
Minister Chung said during the urgent briefing on the Ukraine situation at the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, "Among them, 36 who wish to depart are being fully prepared to evacuate within this week if possible."
Minister Chung emphasized, "Currently, with the airport closed and land routes not operating smoothly, some non-essential diplomatic staff accompanied by families of Korean residents attempted to move to the Lviv region but returned to Kyiv due to severe traffic congestion. We plan to attempt again at dawn local time."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that most personnel, including the local embassy chief, will continue supporting the evacuation of our nationals. Three embassy staff were dispatched to Lviv in the western region as of February 16 to assist with land departures of our nationals, and some will be gradually withdrawn.
