Launch of the 4th National Dementia Management Committee ... Composed of 12 Members Including Experts and Private Sector Representatives
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The "4th National Dementia Management Committee," which deliberates on major policies for dementia management, was launched on the 25th.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it completed the composition of the 4th National Dementia Management Committee and held its first meeting online on the same day.
The National Dementia Management Committee is an organization that deliberates on the establishment of comprehensive dementia management plans and major projects, consisting of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 1st Vice Minister (chairperson), government members, and private members.
The 4th committee is composed of 12 members, including Seok Jae-eun, professor of social welfare at Hallym University; Lee Yoon-kyung, head of the Elderly Policy Research Center at the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs; Lee Sung-hee, president of the Korea Dementia Family Association; and Park Geon-woo, chairman of the Korean Dementia Association. The term of these members is three years, until February 2025.
At the first meeting, they reviewed this year's dementia management implementation plan and shared the achievements of the National Dementia Responsibility System.

Yang Sung-il, the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 1st Vice Minister (chairperson), stated, "As we approach a super-aged society, this committee was formed at a time when we must closely respond to the changing dementia policy environment and demands. I hope it will suggest a desirable direction so that Korea's dementia policy can take a step forward."
