Gochang-gun Provides Differential Compensation for Government-Distributed Rice Seeds...The Only One in Jeonbuk

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, will continue to support the price difference compensation for government-supplied rice seeds this year.

According to the county on the 25th, the price difference compensation support for government-supplied seeds is a project that compensates for the difference between the government purchase price and the price supplied to farmers.

Among the 14 cities and counties in Jeonbuk, only Gochang-gun provides this support, receiving great response from farmers.

The county received applications from farmers for seven varieties including Sugwang, Sindongjin, and Saenuri, produced by the National Seed Management Office, to help improve rice quality through stable supply of high-quality seeds to farmers.

This year, the supply volume of government-supplied rice seeds in Gochang-gun is 171.5 tons, which will be supplied in 8,578 bags of 20 kg each.

Accordingly, a price difference compensation of 5,820 KRW per bag will be provided to farmers.

Based on the supplied Japonica rice seeds, farmers will pay 43,200 KRW after deducting the price difference compensation from the 2021 supply price of 49,020 KRW, and can receive the seeds through Nonghyup.

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, “By compensating the difference between the purchase price and the supply price of rice seeds, we will reduce the management cost burden on rice farmers and do our best to establish a stable rice production foundation through the supply of high-quality seeds to farmers.”
