Ukraine President: "Combat Readiness Needed... Men Aged 18-60 Banned from Leaving Country"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered a "general mobilization" in response to Russia's invasion, CNN reported on the 24th (local time). Accordingly, Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
According to the report, President Zelensky stated in a declaration that day, "To maintain the combat readiness of the Ukrainian military and other armed forces, a large-scale mobilization order has been issued in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and major cities."
He said, "Mobilization must be carried out within 90 days from the date of enforcement of the mobilization order," and instructed the Ukrainian Security Service to take counterintelligence measures during the general mobilization period. He further explained, "This involves conscription of draftees, reservists, and Ukrainian military units and institutions."
The border guard has banned Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country. The statement emphasized, "Male Ukrainian citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the Ukrainian border," adding, "This regulation is valid during the period."
