Keep this in mind."
At the election campaign headquarters meeting held at the National Assembly on the 24th, Head Kwon stated, "We must prioritize the will of the people who long for regime change and be cautious to prevent any unnecessary and exhausting disputes from arising."
Previously, Leader Lee had a heated exchange with Lee Tae-gyu, the general headquarters chief of the People’s Party election campaign committee, over the issue of opposition candidate unification, using words such as "broker" and "narrow-minded person." On this day, Head Kwon revealed regarding Leader Lee’s recent comment about the "betrayer in the People’s Party" related to the "failed unification," saying, "Leader Lee Jun-seok proposed Ahn’s withdrawal and party merger to the People’s Party side in early February."
Head Kwon said, "Although there was confusion surrounding the unification, I believe it is part of the process toward greater integration and a more united Republic of Korea."
He emphasized, "We have repeatedly promised the people our determination to achieve proper national unity beyond factions and regions, and Candidate Yoon Seok-youl’s thoughts on Candidate Ahn Cheol-soo, who shares the same goal of regime change, are no different."
He added, "Our party and Candidate Yoon will do their utmost until the end to surely achieve the regime change that the people desire. Although the Democratic Party is resorting to petty tactics by threatening the people with a divided National Assembly, Candidate Yoon has firmly expressed his intention to judge Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung and unite with healthy forces within the Democratic Party."
