Gwangju Republic of Korea Future Committee Holds Lee Jae-myung Victory Resolution Rally
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Korea Future Committee held a rally to pledge victory for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea.
About 30 members of the organization held the rally on the 23rd, representing a total of 100,000 members, stating, "Currently, in Korea, political retaliation is openly mentioned, and generation, regional, and gender conflicts are being incited, which is deplorable," and added, "Such politics of retaliation and conflict are absolutely unacceptable in Gwangju, where people have resisted with their whole bodies."
They said, "If the People Power Party candidate comes to power, he plans to appoint his closest aide as the head of the Central District Prosecutors' Office to investigate the deep-rooted evils of the Moon Jae-in administration," and declared, "This means creating a prosecutorial republic to carry out political retaliation, and Gwangju, which has protected democracy, will never tolerate this."
They also criticized, "Recently, candidate Yoon mentioned that Gwangju's GDP ranks last nationwide and that the Democratic Party opposes the construction of a complex shopping mall located in another region," calling it "a clear false claim that disregards the pride of Gwangju citizens and incites regional conflict to gain votes."
Furthermore, they stated, "As the COVID-19 crisis prolongs, our lives are becoming increasingly difficult," and argued, "To end this early, a competent economic president is needed."
They also pledged, "We will make the victory pledge of candidate Lee Jae-myung, which started in Gwangju, spread like wildfire and blaze across the nation."
Assemblyman Lee Won-wook said, "Gwangju has always changed the course of history with the right choices when Korea was in trouble," and urged, "Please play a key role in this presidential election that will determine Korea's fate."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Korea Future Committee was launched on the 8th as a Democratic Party election campaign organization with the purpose of preparing and acting for Gwangju to leap forward as a pivotal leading city responsible for Korea's future in this era of great transformation.
