Gyeonggi-do Provides Customized Support for Commercial Districts in Uiwang, Yeoncheon, and Osan Areas
Investment of 1 Billion Won per Commercial Area, Total Project Cost of 3 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province has selected three commercial districts in Uiwang, Yeoncheon, and Osan this year for the 'Alleyway Commercial District Specialization Support Project' and will provide customized support.
According to the province on the 24th, a public contest was held from January to February in three categories: Hope Commercial District Project, Clean Valley Commercial District Revitalization, and Old Shopping Street Revitalization.
For the 'Hope Commercial District Project,' the Bugok-dong commercial district in Uiwang was selected; for 'Clean Valley Commercial District Revitalization,' the Dongmakgol commercial district in Yeoncheon was chosen; and for 'Old Shopping Street Revitalization,' the commercial district around Hanshin University in Osan was selected.
A total of 3 billion KRW, with 1 billion KRW invested in each district, will be used for business expenses to strengthen competitiveness through customized support such as commercial district diagnosis, street environment improvement, specialized product development, and operation of commercial district revitalization project clubs.
The Uiwang Bugok-dong Merchants Association plans to promote local commercial district revitalization by creating a Healing Street Pocket Garden, improving the design of the street environment, and conducting store management diagnostics.
The Yeoncheon Dongmakgol Merchants Association envisions creating a new local attraction by developing a retro (RETRO) themed commercial district centered around the Dongmakgol Valley, branding and marketing Dongmakgol, and developing military meal kits.
The Osan Hanshin University Commercial District Association plans to lay the foundation for revitalizing the commercial district around the university by establishing youth pop-up stores, creating a spicy food specialty street, developing specialized menus, and hosting the Hanshin Hill Film Festival.
