7-Year-Old Girl Dies While Receiving Hospital Treatment After COVID-19 Diagnosis and Home Isolation; Health Authorities Begin Cause of Death Investigation

According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Quarantine Authorities on the 23rd, a girl identified as A, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was being treated at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, has passed away.
On the 16th, A showed mild fever symptoms and underwent a rapid antigen test at Yecheon County Public Health Center, which returned a negative result.
The next day, her fever did not subside, so she received a PCR test at a nearby hospital, which came back positive on the 18th, after which she began home treatment.
Despite home treatment, her symptoms gradually worsened, and on the 20th, health authorities secured a hospital bed and transferred A to a hospital in Yeongju. However, as her condition became critical, she was moved to Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital on the 21st, where she ultimately passed away while receiving treatment.
