Ministry of Economy and Finance replaces 71% of department heads... "Increase female appointments and expand cross-department transfers"
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 24th that it has carried out a director-level personnel reshuffle, replacing 84 out of 119 director positions (71%).
The main feature of this personnel reshuffle is the active cross-assignment between the offices of the 1st and 2nd Vice Ministers. The Ministry plans to expand personnel exchanges between departments by increasing the scale of cross-assignments from 2 last year to 13 this year, aiming to enhance the utilization of expertise and organizational productivity. In particular, through personnel exchanges among taxation, budgeting, and policy coordination divisions, the Ministry explained that it has strengthened policy capabilities, response capacity, and collaboration foundations.
Additionally, young and talented individuals who passed the 47th to 48th Administrative Examination were actively appointed as key directors to revitalize the organization. The number of female directors also increased significantly, raising the female director ratio from the previous 13% (16 persons) to 17.6% (21 persons). Notably, for the first time, a female director was appointed to the Budget Policy Division director position, and two directors from the public official recruitment track were additionally appointed, continuously expanding balanced personnel appointments.

A Ministry of Economy and Finance official stated, "This regular personnel reshuffle aims to fully support overcoming the COVID-19 crisis, stabilizing employment, and revitalizing the livelihood economy, while ensuring the smooth implementation of national tasks and enhancing organizational reform and vitality." He added, "We have comprehensively considered individual capabilities and careers to assign the most suitable candidates to each position, placing talented individuals with high organizational contribution and work performance in the right places."
